Three young women of faith have been awarded scholarships by CBA to further their studies in media.

All three feel called by God to help make a difference in the world of secular mass media and are aiming high in their careers.

Narelle Suisted is studying journalism with a view to becoming a TV reporter or foreign correspondent with the BBC. Emily McLean wants to make documentaries and ultimately, work as communications director for the United Nations. Jennifer Savage, who received CBA’s Hillman Award along with her scholarship, aspires to be a “hard hitting interviewer on live television or radio” or write for The Economist. At the age of 19 she has already won top international honours in debating.
CBA’s managing trustee Phil Guyan said the quality of all 20 applications for the scholarships was “absolutely outstanding”. “Not only did we have some very competent, intelligent achievers, but their maturity, their faith, their passion for God and their vision of how they want to impact the world were truly inspirational. If young Christians such as these end up running the place, we’ll be in good hands.”

The scholarships, worth $1500 each, are a natural fit with the mission aims of CBA – to reach mass media audiences and communicate the essentials of the Christian faith to those who have never understood. By encouraging young Christians into a career in broadcasting, we’re strategically multiplying our capacity to spread the seed of God’s message far and wide.

Join Us In Prayer
Prayer underpins all that we do at CBA. If you’d like to join our Prayer Task Force, we’d love to have you on board. We’ll send six updates per year, by post or by email (or both if you prefer). The prayer letter suggests items for prayer and thanksgiving, and it never solicits funds. Click here to sign up.

"Our prayers may be awkward. But since the power of prayer is in the One who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference."
- Max Lucado
